Earl “Bud” Meyer, 91, of Walcott, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 in Walcott. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 10:00 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 pm until 8 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Maysville Fire Department or Maysville Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Earl was born September 19, 1923 in rural Walcott, IA; the son of Otto and Alma (Untiedt) Meyer. He was united in marriage to Arrabelle Ann Kraft on November 26, 1944 in Davenport; having been married for 62 years. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2006. He was a fourth generation farmer on the family’s century farm and was proud to have his sons be a part of the farm. His greatest “crop” was his children. Bud was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. He enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida; golfing and playing cards, having been in two card clubs for over 70 years. He was a member of Calamus Country Club. He served as a former president of the Dixon, IA Phone Company and had served on the boards of the Dixon Co-Op, Donahue Savings Bank and the Maysville Cemetery. Those left to honor his memory include his sons: David (Linda), New Liberty, IA; Paul (Dale), Eldridge and Jim, Walcott; daughter, Judy (Jim) Howell, Walcott; seven grandchildren: Megan, Dawn, Colin, Brad, Makenzie, Emily and Sarah; great grandchildren: Dallas and Blake and special friend, Alverna Rekemeyer, Walcott, IA. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Sargent and Elvira Weih.
