Donna R. Baker

Donna was born on June 15, 1945 to parents Ethel and Charles Brooking, Quincy, Illinois. Her family moved to Davenport in the late 1940s.

She graduated from Davenport West High School in 1963 and fondly remembered being at West during the fall of 1960 as a part of its first sophomore class.

After graduation, Donna worked in a variety of clerical roles in the Quad Cities, including for Kelly Services back when their employees were known as “Kelly Girls.” She also enjoyed doing clerical work at Robin Hood Milling, on East River Drive, Davenport.

She enjoyed things of beauty, listening to music, taking walks, and caring for her family.

Donna is survived by her husband Gary Baker of 58 years; her son, David (Tabatha) Baker, Bettendorf, Iowa; her sister, Janet (Charles) Schroeder, Bellevue, Iowa; grandchildren, Callista and Alexander Baker, Bettendorf, and Christopher Anderson, Rock Island, Illinois; many nieces and nephews (and great nieces and nephews).

A celebration of Donna’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages any donations be made to Gilda’s Club, Quad Cities: www.gildasclubqc.org

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Donald Brooking, Quincy, Illinois.
