David “Dave” Parker, 70, of Davenport, Iowa passed away Friday, January 1,2021 after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials in Dave’s name may be made to The Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson's (https://davisphinneyfoundation.org/) or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa. Weerts Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Dave was born on October 6, 1950 in Toronto, Canada to Rev. James and Marilynn Parker. He graduated from St. Ambrose University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Information Technology. Dave was married to Paula Scott in 1970, they eventually divorced. He later married Lori Mirfield in 1987. Dave loved music and ultra cycling (long distance bicycling) before his health declined. After he was not able to participate in ultra cycling events, he along with his good friend and fellow cyclist, Joe Jamison, founded Ultra Midwest and organized various races; he also founded Big Dogs which was a community website for Ultra cyclist to log their miles and give support on race days. Dave also enjoyed photography. He was a true fighter and never let Parkinson’s Disease rule his life.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife Lori; children Blaise Parker, Dylan (Tia), and Taylor; grandchildren Ayva, Cameron, and Antigone; siblings Mary (Rodney) Parker, Tim (Angela) Parker, and Eve (Tom) Parker; nephews: Parker, Ellis, and Dieter; niece, Mandy; and great-nephews Arlo and Eero. He was preceded in death by his parents.
