Coreen E. Mitchell, 66, of Davenport went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Her life will be celebrated with a home going ceremony on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Gospel Mission Temple at 11:00 am. There will be a visitation held an hour prior to the service at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Memorials in Coreen’s name may be made to Gospel Mission Temple.
Coreen was born on February 15, 1958, in Moline, Illinois to Ellie and Lila Trice. Coreen was united in marriage to Curtis Mitchell on September 19, 1981. She was an active member of Gospel Mission Temple for over 20 years and served faithfully as the Kitchen Manager of Shining Light Learning Center. Coreen loved the Lord and always had a scripture, words of encouragement and cards that she shared with any and everyone. She loved to cook and bake for her family, who were her pride and joy. She was a beautiful and spirited woman with a positive presence that touched many people's lives. Her contagious laugh and smile would light up any room she entered. Her ability to always care about others well being played a big part in who she was! She will be well remembered for how she touched the lives of all those who came in contact with her.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 43 years, Curtis; her children Cortress (Chris) Brown, Cayontaye (Amy) Trice, and Chenell Mitchell, Keena Mason; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings Deborah (Tony) Davis, Denise Trice, Ronald Trice, Josie Westbrook, Tammy Trice, and Lucky (Angie) Mitchell; she is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ellie and Lila and two brothers Michael and Glenn Trice.
