Charles “Charlie” Henry Rowell, 59, of Colona passed away Tuesday, November 07, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. Friends may greet the family for a celebration of life at the Windmill Family Restaurant in East Moline, IL on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Hope House, Iowa City. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Charlie was born on July 28, 1958 in Toledo, OH to Orlando and Ardis Rowell. Soon after he was born his family moved to East Moline, IL where he spent his childhood. In 1988 Charlie married Kris Springer during which time they had a son, Jacob and daughter, Molly, together. Charlie later married Georgia Rizzotto in 2017. Charlie was a gifted mechanic and a great handyman throughout his life. Charlie truly lived his life to the fullest. He made friends with many through his witty personality, kind heart and honest ways. He had a passion for people demonstrated through his strong relationships and how quickly he could make connections. Charlie also had a love for cars of all kinds, but spent much of his time with three quarter midgets and sprint cars. Charlie was happiest with his family and friends at the race track. He also loved to spend a Saturday morning, or take a boys trip to South Dakota, pheasant hunting. Charlie, Jake, his friends and his favorite dog Max made quite a team. Late in his life he enjoyed his Tuesday and Friday afternoon poker games with the boys. Those left to celebrate Charlie’s life include his wife, Georgia Rizzotto; son, Jacob Rowell; daughter, Molly Rowell and many friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Orlando Rowell; mother, Ardis Rowell and beloved aunt, Henrietta Veith.
