Beverly J. Mapel, 81, of Buffalo, IA passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital Davenport. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday (7/15) at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation is Monday from 4-7pm at the mortuary. Burial will take place in Rose Hill Cemetery Buffalo, IA. Memorials may be made to St Jude’s Children Hospital or to the family. Beverly was born January 21, 1933 in Buffalo, IA to Hysle & Ruth (Bell) Teel. She was united in marriage to Bryan Mapel on January 17, 1959 in Rock Island, IL. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2007.
Bev, known as “Granny” to many, had worked at several places though out her life including Oscar Mayer, Long Manufacturing, Midwest Autowize, and most recently Casey’s General Store Nicolas, IA from where she retired. Bev was very strong willed and not afraid of new challenges. She took on construction projects in her home, made furniture when needed, and loved to sew & cook when she was able
Survivors include 2 daughters Melissa Mapel, and Melody (Mike) Walker, both of Buffalo; 2 sons Robert (Tracy) Mapel, Nicolas, IA and Daniel (Neide) Leonard Clinton Township, MI; 13 grandchildren Denny, Deanna, Deanon, Aaron, Daniel A., Rachel, Daniel B., Brad, Lindsay, Bryan, Mick, Travis & Joey; 20 Great grandchildren; 3 Sisters Charlotte Riley, Davenport, Dorothy Coppinger, Davenport & Marlys Koralewski, Tucson, AZ; brother Ronald “Buck” Teel Davenport; son-in-law, Dennis Wood, Dallas, TX, special friend Sally Rodriguez, Buffalo; and her friends at Buffalo Senior Housing including Fern Sadd & Muriel Grant.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bryan, daughter Trish Wood, sister Joyce Haussman; grandson Robert John; granddaughter Summer K.; great granddaughter Megghan.
