Bertha was known as “Bert” to all who knew and loved her.
Bert was born in Moline, IL to parents Kathryn & Harold Kundert. Bert had the extreme pleasure of sharing a birthday with her twin brother Bertram Kundert. Bert never missed a birthday call to her brother whom she loved very much. The two also had two other siblings Mary Liljequist & George (aka Butch) Kundert.
Bert had two daughters in her first marriage Corina Caven (Matt)& Carrie Elkin (Chris) If you knew Bert at all you would know she adopted many others along the way.
Bert & Jim Holdt were married after 7 years together. The girls would later refer to him as their Dad. Bert & Jim worked side by side for many years running their business Holdt’s Graphic Repair Service. They were well known in the printing industry for compassionate and dependable service. Jim would often waive his hourly fee to help a struggling printer and always take calls day and night. Bert would usually accompany him on these calls assisting with supply needs for printers and handing the right tool to Jim.
During their life together Jim & Bert enjoyed fishing, camping, playing dice, & euchre. Bert especially loved crocheting. Anything she could imagine she brought to life in yarn. She made several animal hats, slippers, blankets, and potholders to name a few things.
Bert loved nature and all animals big and small.
After Jim’s passing in 2017 she built and addition on to her daughter’s home and she resided with family for 5 years until a broken shoulder took her into Ridgecrest Crest Health. This is where she remained until passing. At Ridgecrest she was not alone either, she had another adopted daughter Joyce Nelson checking on her daily and a super star nurse Alyssa.
Corina and Carrie would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their invaluable services until mom’s passing.
Bert is survived by all her siblings previously mentioned, daughters Corina (Matt) Caven & Carrie (Chris) Elkin. Jeff Schuett whom Bert considered the son she never birthed,11 grandchildren and their significant others, 15 great-grandchildren. Very special and dear friends Alan & Robert.
