Our mother was deeply loved. On the bright, sunny morning of February 15th, 2020, Stella Margaret passed away and was reunited with our late father, Vincent Neil Campbell. Now joined forever in love.
Born in Eastern Passage, Stella was an amazing mother to her four children, Shirley Ann (Gary Auby); Sharon; Loretta (Bernie Manley) and John (Debbie Conrad). Being an attentive mother and loving wife was her greatest joy.
Affectionately called “Diddles” our mother had a great sense of humour and was well known for her jokes and stories which became even more colorful through the years. She was patient, kind and had the brightest smile. She was a true friend to so many; especially those “from the hill.” She loved being in the thick of it all, seeing what others were up to and never missed a beat :) She brought light, love and cheer everywhere she went.
Our Mom was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church Parish in Eastern Passage where her parents also attended for many years. She loved pretty things and was always well turned out with the greatest sense of style (lipstick, necklace & earrings were never optional!) Known for her lucky streak, she loved nothing more than beating our Father at a good game of cards.
As a Nanny, there was no one more loving and fun. Her six grandchildren loved her deeply and she meant the world to them: Kelli, Kim, Janeya, Ryan, Ashley & Darcy and extended grandchildren Michelle, Craig, Nichole & Jeanette.
She was affectionately referred to as “Old Nan” by her great grandchildren: Amanda, Mackenzie, Bradley, Evan, Nikolaas, Timothy, Anthony, Campbell, and Bella. She was also blessed with four great, great grandchildren: Avery, Joanna, Carey and Jack; with another dear grandbaby on the way.
Kelli & Kim remember Nan’s endless stash of cheezies, red licorice and her yummy tea biscuits. Janeya & Ryan recall her lovely matching sets of costume jewellery – the more bling, the better! Ashley loved her ‘fozzie noodles,” beans & barley soup and her quick wit and humor. An inspiration to so many, Darcy recalls her lessons on how to stretch a dollar. She taught us all so much- how lucky we all were to have such a vibrant, fun loving grandmother for so many years.
She will be missed by her wonderful friends and extended family; especially her nieces and nephews. Sincere thanks to the staff of the Dartmouth General Hospital for caring for our mother- especially RN Alison, Caroline Tien and our Sherry-lynn who were so kind and dedicated to Mom. We also give thanks to the nursing team at Oakwood Terrace. Your continued support is so appreciated.
Details will follow for a Celebration of Life at a later date. On-line condolences are most welcome, please visit www.mattatallfuneralhome.com and share your thoughts about our dear Mother. We would love to hear from you.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St Peter's Anglican Church, Eastern Passage, NS or help support palliative care at Oakwood Terrace Nursing Home, Dartmouth, NS.
We miss you Mom, rest in Peace.
