MARSHALL, Marjorie Olga, R.N. - of Dartmouth passed away September 29, 2014. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of Katie Greig and L.D. MacLean. Marj was a graduate of Hamilton Memorial School of Nursing and worked at both Hamilton Memorial and the Halifax Infirmary. Married to Samuel H. Marshall, together they raised seven children, Bill (Geri), Ken (Peggy, deceased), Sandy (Valerie), Celeste (Robin Johnston), Claire (Carl Crowell), Hugh (Darlene) and Norma (Gerald Zareski). Throughout her life she gave generously of her time to the church and community. She was a Charter Member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, Clerk of Session for 25 years and held various offices within the W.M.S. Eastern Division, of which she was a life member. For many years she was a faithful volunteer with C.A.M.R. teaching pre-school children and also with the Literacy Council teaching English to adults. Mom was an accomplished quilter and knitter and also enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, playing piano and gardening. Each of us has been the proud recipient of her many treasures. Including her children, Nan is survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel and her sister Norma Strickland. Cremation has taken place. No visitation, by request. There will be a private family service and interment at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Dartmouth General Hospital Foundation.
