HARTLING, Kenneth Malcolm — July 22, 1933 - December 29, 2010. We regret to announce the death of Kenneth Malcolm Hartling, Dartmouth, on December 29, 2010. Born on July 22, 1933 in Dartmouth, Ken was predeceased by parents, Ernest K. and Gladys Isabelle "Molly" (MacDonald) Hartling; and by his brother, Robert Howard Hartling. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pauline (Wilson); cousins; nieces and nephews; as well as friends and neighbours who loved him.
A retired school teacher, Ken taught at Westmount Elementary School for many years. In his younger years Ken and Pauline enjoyed sailing throughout the Maritimes and spending time at their summer home in Sober Island. Ken had a special place in his heart for the community of Canso where he grew up. Right up until the end of his life Ken was an amateur historian with a passion for reading and researching local Maritime history and archaeology.
Donations in Ken's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. A memorial in his honour will be announced at a later date.
