It is with great sadness that the family of Jeffrey Thomas Turner announce his sudden passing on August 29, 2023. Jeff was born in Wolfville and raised in Hantsport, NS, a son of the late Richard (Dick) and Frenie Turner.
Jeff had a varied and interesting career in finance and business development which included positions in the banking, food production, mining and tourism economic development industries. He recently retired from an almost 20-year career with Discover Halifax, a position which allowed him to connect with people in many organizations and businesses, something he truly enjoyed and at which he excelled.
He was a man of many interests including, history, archeology, geography, art, music, cooking and hiking and held many volunteer positions over his lifetime, most recently with the North American Indigenous Games, an event he was very proud to be part of. He was an avid reader and rarely went anywhere without a book or magazine, just in case he had a few spare minutes. In recent years, wanting to try some new things, he dabbled in acrylic painting, guitar playing, wood chipping and marmalade and jelly making.
Jeff is survived by his son, Caleb Turner; spouse, Connie Stewart; sisters, Jan (Rob) and Terry (Steve); brother, Jim (Laura); nieces, Shannon and Haley (Neil); nephew, Zack (Deanna), and grandniece, Georgia. He touched a lot of lives, one way or another, and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and the two cats at home.
He will rest with his parents at Riverbank Cemetery in Hantsport. A remembrance gathering will take place in his beloved Annapolis Valley at a later date.
Donations in Jeff’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice.
