Jean MacQuarrie Munro

Munro, Jean MacQuarrie – 54 of Dartmouth, It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jean after a brief battle with cancer. Surrounded by family and friends, Jean passed away peacefully on October 21, 2011 in the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Grace (Fleming) Munro. Jean grew up in Fairview and was a long time resident of Hawthorne Street Group Home where she spent many happy years with wonderful people who became her second family. Jean worked for many years at Prescott Group where she was a valued employee in several areas, most recently Peaceful Pursuits. Jean enjoyed many activities including, Tai Chi, Zumba classes, the Indian Bowling League, and attending church. She loved holidays, especially Christmas or “HoHo” as she preferred. Jean was a quiet gentle soul who will be greatly missed. Her smile and cheerful “See you tomorrow, I’ll miss you” made everyone feel valued. She is survived by her brother James (Debbie), Halifax; nephews Allister and Jackson; niece Robin. Visitation will take place 6 – 8 pm Tuesday October 25, in A. L. Mattatall Funeral 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. A memorial service will take place 2pm Wednesday October 26 in Christ Church, 50 Wentworth Street Dartmouth. Rev. Jane Clattenburg officiating. Interment to take place in Mount Hermon Cemetery. Family flowers only.
