We regret to share the passing of George Frederick Wotton on April 3, 2022 at the age of 77. He was known as a fixture in the Dartmouth community as the owner and operator of Clark’s Barbering and Hairstyling at K-Mart Mall on Tacoma Drive for 44 years (1966-2010). A native of Charlottetown, PEI, George moved to Dartmouth when he was 21 years old with his wife Marilyn to work in his uncle’s barber shop and took over the business under his name after he passed in 1969. Over the years George saw many trends in the hair industry from brush cuts, undercuts, mushroom cuts to the long hair of the 70s. Known for his hot shaves with a straight razor and his sharp sense of humor he always said, “barbers are in a class by themselves”. After he retired and up until he passed, George was known for his kind personality, his humor and love of socializing. George was predeceased by his parents, Everett and Nadean, his brothers, Ernest and Ralph; his son-in-law, Scott. He will be forever remembered by his wife, Marilyn, his children Jeff (Andrea) and Cynthia; his brother Preston (Connie); his grandchildren, Alexandra, Olivia, Nathaniel, Rachael and Elizabeth; his brother and sister-in-laws, Llyod (Myrna), Alfie, Brenda, Melvin (Lori), Valerie (Donnie) and Jean; his many nieces, nephews, friends and family members who loved him.
Visitation will take place at Mattatall’s Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth on Thursday, April 7th from 7-9pm. Service to take place at Trinity United Church, 220 Richmond Street in Charlottetown, PEI on Friday, April 8th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
