We are saddened to announce the passing of Fotis Fatouros, a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Panagiota, sons Stephen (Andreane) and Tommy, daughter Zaharenia (George) and grand children Jimmy, Fotis and Dina.
Our dad was born in the small village of Evgyros on the beautiful island of Lefkada, Greece. He was a mischievous child who liked to play hookey from school. His brother Vasilli would often have to go out and look for him, and one day, found him hiding in an outdoor oven that they used to cook and bake in back in the day.
Dad always had fond memories of growing up in Greece, hunting and having family parties full of music and dance. He had a great life there, and we always wondered why he would want to leave everything behind, and travel to the unknown (Canada) with $50 in his pocket.
We’d like to think Dad came to his beloved Canada in search of true love, which he found in our mother, Panagiota. Our parents love for each other was truly special. They built a life together of over 50 years and always sacrificed for their three children. As children growing up with a father in the restaurant business, we appreciated even more the time we had with him because of the long hours he put in. Just a family drive after work was special to us. The little things.
Our dad was our hero; hardworking and funny, a great party-thrower and wedding planner who ruled the dance floor. He loved hunting with his buddies and his beloved hunting dogs, most of which were named Suzie. He loved his nephews and nieces, was a proud Godfather, and a loving Papou to his three grandchildren. Our dad’s greatest gifts were his generosity and love for others. Being in the restaurant business, he met many people through the years and made a lot of friends along the way. He truly loved his customers and always treated them like family. He enjoyed going to each table and chatting with people with his
unmatched charm. Dad loved life and never gave up until the end. Thanks for everything Baba. Love you.
