Ernestine Carolyn Johnson

Age 58, passed away October 11, 2015, peacefully with her family by her side, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born December 11, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Florence and Stanley Sparks. Erna was employed for many years at the Prince George Hotel, Halifax before being forced to retire because of her health. While working there, she received great recognition for the outstanding work she did during that time. Most recently, she worked at Shoppers Drug Mart on Wyse Road, and was a well-known face around the area. Erna was adored for her infectious smile, and her exceptional customer service. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. Erna is survived by her loving husband, Gordon; sons, Brian (Lisa), Windsor; Steven (Gail), Dartmouth; Shondell (Tara), Alberta; daughters, Crystal, Ontario; Misty, Saint John, N.B.; Alexis (Cortez), Dartmouth; Deanna, Dartmouth; daughter by heart, Cara-lee McDaniel, Dartmouth; sisters, Valerie, Dartmouth; Angela (Crissy), Halifax; Kathy, Dartmouth; Frances (Thomas), Lake Loon; Wanda (Barry), Dartmouth; Tanya (Shaun), Dartmouth; Lanata (Charles), Dartmouth; brothers, Steven (Beth), Mount Uniacke; Paul (Glenda), Dartmouth; Ward, Halifax; and brother-in-law, Albert Mahe, Dartmouth. Her sister, Annette Mahe, and many nieces and nephews predeceased her. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth where visitation will take place today, Thursday, October 15, for family from 2-4 p.m. and for public from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service in Cherry Brook Baptist Church, 292 Cherry Brook Rd. on Friday October 16, at 1 p.m. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
