Dear Margaret and Laurie.  I have such wonderful memories of Newcastle street many of which include your family.  As a youngster, I was always in awe of your mother's glamour.  I remember her helping Margaret and I get properly dressed for our dance at Mrs. Lawrence's.  I still chuckle fondly over that.  My condolences to you both and your families.

I grew up with three women as role models.  My mother, Aunt Helen and Aunt Betty.  Each played a distinct role.  My mother taught me how to be a supportive spouse and a compassionate mother (not that I always learned the lesson).  Aunt Helen had a calmness about her that I strive to emulate.  Aunt Betty had glamour and was a role model of how to conduct yourself in polite society.  I remember as a young girl listening to the adult conversations in the living room over a glass of chardonnay. (I had chocolate milk).  Her house was always ready for a visit.  She enjoyed socializing with friends and would always laugh at my dad's silly jokes.  When we lived in Santa Barbara, Aunt Betty and Uncle Bill would come to visit.  They always treated us like gold.  I am so appreciative of the role she played in my life.  My love goes out to Laurie, Maggie, Uncle Robert and my mom.  We have lost a treasure.

My Dearest Laurie and Margaret, sorry to hear of your mom's passing.  She made quite an impression!!  The most obvious was her refinement, her poise and her sense of  etiquette.  Underneath that, for me, was her sense of fun!! My recollection was of the frequent and joyful entertaining she and Uncle Bill did, the travel, and, of course, the curling! A girl's got to excercise! Speaking of fun, Maggie, I believe it was her idea to get us into riding lessons at Bengal Lancers.  I cannot think of my life without horses at that time.

Sorry to hear of the passing of my wonderful sister-in-law, Betty Bell.She was a wonderful friend and mentor to me, almost like a big sister. We know that she has gone to a better place and is with the Lord.

We will remember our refined, elegant Aunt Betty who had such poise. May her spirit blend effortlessly back into the unconditional love of the Source. In Peace,

Laurie, Margaret, and the family of Betty Bell-- I was saddened to hear about Betty's illness and eventual death. Betty was such a good neighbour. She was one of the first people to welcome my family to the neighbourhood over 35 years ago. I will miss her on the street. Thinking of your family at this sad time.

I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to Mrs. Bell's family.  She was such a wonderful and kind person.  I will always remember her with great fondness.  May she rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Betty's passing. She was a wonderful lady and life long friend to our family. I have many wonderful memories of growing up on Newcastle St. across the street from the "Bells". Thinking of you both and your families at this difficult time.
