Age 84, of Dartmouth, passed away in the QEII Hospital on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Born in Woodlawn to the late William and Pearl (Ritcey) Eisener, Doug was a well-known poultry and pig farmer who farmed for many years in Woodlawn before moving his farm to Cole Harbour. He hailed from a long line of farmers and had a passion for his work and the farm in general. He was happiest with dirt on his hands, digging in his gardens and driving his tractors. Until recent years, he was an active member of Woodlawn United Church and spent many hours looking after the Woodlawn Cemetery. His family was important to him and he cherished the times he spent with his wife, daughters and grandson. He loved travelling with family and friends, talking and joking with all those around him. Doug will be missed by his wife of 57 years, Muriel (Gates), his daughters Lori and Tracey, grandson Alexander, and brother Harley. He was predeceased by brothers Gerald and Ronald. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 8th at 10 a.m. in Woodlawn United Church, Dartmouth. All are welcome to attend this celebration of Doug’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the NS Division of the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society. Online condolences may be viewed or sent to: www.mattatallfuneralhome.com
