He served in the Air Force for 12 years, was a commissioner for the Halifax Post Office, a School Bus Driver with the City of Dartmouth and Stock Transportation, as well as a taxi driver in Dartmouth for over 40 years. He was predeceased by his parents Vincent & Beulah Turple, his wife Eva Turple, his daughter Deborah Ann Stockley, as well as his 2 grandsons Mark McGregor and Jeremy Stockley. He is survived by his sisters Diana Kane and Mary Jane Snow, as well as his children Merlin, Darlene (Donald), David (Lorena), Wanda (David), Billy (Maureen), Shelley (Bill), Kevin (Gladie) and son in law Ronnie Stockley.
He leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, with one more on the way in February, (Baby Duffy) and1 great great grandson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dad was very passionate about his sports. He was a DIE HARD Montreal Canadiens fan and a Toronto Blue Jay fan when they were winning.
We would like to thank the Dartmouth General for their support over the last few weeks.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation as per Dad's request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 1:00 pm from A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth with a reception to follow. There will be a private burial at a later date.
