MACLEAN, David Ronald - of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully on November 10, 2022 at Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia he was the son of Ronald MacLean and Frances Barss MacLean.
David was survived by his wife Charlotte, his children Allison (Randy), Gregor (Nicole), and Megan (Eric), his four grandchildren Olivia (Nat), Chelsea, Lachlan, and Noah, his brother Bruce, his sister-in-law Leslie, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Ross.
David spent his early life in Cape Breton on the golf course and in curling rinks. Upon moving to Dartmouth for high school, he started to date the love of his life Charlotte, enjoying ballroom dancing, canoeing, and camping. David shared these activities as well as photography, gardening, and poetry with his three children. He was dedicated to all his endeavors, not the least being his children’s love of soccer, where he became the President of the Dartmouth United Soccer Club, President of the Dartmouth District Soccer Association, and a Board Member of Soccer Nova Scotia. David was a member of the Dartmouth Curling Club and the Brightwood Golf and Country Club. David worked at MacLean and MacLean CA’s and CRA (retired).
The family would like to thank Dr. Sean Taylor for his extraordinary care, support and kindness, his ALS team at the Nova Scotia Rehab Centre, his at home caregivers Maureen and Shannon, and the staff at the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia for their care and support of David.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 6 – 9pm in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at the Woodlawn United Church, 54 Woodlawn Road, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. A reception will follow at A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St, Dartmouth, NS B2Y 1J5.
