It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dale (also known as Bikey by his granddaughters), 77, of Oakfield and New Minas. He passed peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary with his family by his side.
Born in Enniskillen, NB, he was the youngest son of the late Jack and Eleanor (Hasson) Pearson. He moved to Oakfield with his family as a young teenager where he met the love of his life, Beverley (Palmer). They lived and raised their daughters, Jillian and Jena, in Oakfield, in a home he proudly helped build and then moved to New Minas after they retired in 2013.
Dale left high school to attend Halifax Vocational School where he took a welding course. Throughout his life he worked for several welding companies including Hawker Sidley, SEDCO Offshore Oil Drilling and Irving Shipbuilding Limited. When he wasn’t at work he enjoyed working on indoor and outdoor carpentry and landscaping projects at his home in Oakfield. Although he complained about the sport, he also secretly enjoyed spending time on the golf course with Beverley and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley (Palmer) New Minas; his two daughters, Jillian Ross (Chris), Dartmouth and Jena Pearson, Calgary, AB; two granddaughters, Jamie and Darci Ross as well as his three special aunts, Margaret Coish, Chilliwack, BC, Mary Lou Garriock, Upper Sackville, NS and Judy Carr, Hoyt, NB; sisters-in-law, Frances Palmer-Barlow, Edmonton, AB, Barbara Pearson, Rockland, ON; brothers in-law Wayne Palmer (Rosemary), Brian (Lois) Palmer, both of Enfield, Billy Palmer, Grand Lake, and Ken Wright, Cheltenham, ON as well as nieces and nephews, Katie Barlow, Ryan and Tara Palmer, Jessica and Jacob Palmer, Tom and Natalie Pearson.
He is predeceased by his son Michael, his parents, his sister Sharon Wright, his brother William Pearson, nephew Andrew Barlow and brothers-in-law Harold Palmer and Jim Barlow.
His family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Valley Regional Hospital and the Halifax Infirmary for their compassionate care during his time there over the past two months. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service for family and friends will be held at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, Oakfield, on Sunday, October 13th at 3pm.
