NEIMA, Catherine Margaret - The family of Catherine (Kaye) Margaret Neima is deeply saddened to announce her passing on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Ocean View Continuing Care Centre in Eastern Passage, NS. Born in Antigonish on November 23, 1927, she was the daughter of Mary (McKay) and Daniel Hasey. Mom grew up in Clydesdale, Antigonish Co. and met her husband, Bud, while working in the town of Antigonish. They married in 1950 and after a few years moved to Halifax to start a new life in the city. Mom was a stay-at-home mother who kept herself busy caring for her children and keeping a beautiful home. She also worked with Dad in his jewellery store during the busy Christmas season. Mom was active in the Catholic Women’s League of St. Thomas More Church in Dartmouth and provided meals for Hope Cottage. She was known for her tremendous cooking and baking skills and always had the freezer stocked with baked goodies, which was occasionally raided by her children and grandchildren. She loved cooking for visiting friends and family at home and at their cottage, and everyone appreciated her hearty meals — especially her cabbage rolls. Mom enjoyed gardening and always looked forward to the fall when she could spend the afternoons raking up the endless leaves falling from the trees in their yard and sometimes the neighbours’ yards. Mom and Dad were fabulous dancers and enjoyed the weekly dances at Brightwood Golf Club with their friends. Kaye is survived by her daughter, Devera Neima, Bedford, NS and her children, Rob (Tanya), Truro, NS & their children Emma & Spencer; Michelle (Mark Poirier), Bedford, NS & their children Alaina & Vance; daughter Kathe (Rod Jones), Brookfield, NS and their children Kris (Jill Connell), Truro, NS & their children Gretchen, Fiona & Beatrix, Derek (Erica Nielsen), Truro, NS & their son Felix; Deanna (John Shepherd), Dartmouth, NS; son Danny (Cheryl Smith) South Alton, NS and his son, Brendan, Truro, NS; daughter Amanda (Shayne Pierson), Winnipeg, MB and their children Emmalyn & Peyton; daughter Wendy (Norman Withrow), Wellington, NS and their children, Kayla (Kyle Peace), Middle Sackville, NS, Ashley (Shawn Miller) and Brooke (Kyle Campbell).
