SMITH, Carrie Lee - It is with heavy hearts and extreme sorrow that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Carrie Lee Smith age 39. Carrie was the most loving mother in the entire world and leaves behind her son Jaten Smith. For twenty-two years she spent everyday making sure he knew how proud she was of him. Carrie is also survived by her loving parents Andrew and Ruth Smith who will forever miss their beautiful, free-spirited daughter. A loving sister and aunt to Kevin (Justin & Ethan) and Tanya (Andrew and only niece Anna). Carrie leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as so many beautiful friendships including her closest companion Alycia Bundy and her daughter Reigha. Carrie was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Stan and Mary Meade and paternal grandparents Al and Momma Olive as well as her sweet dog Lacey. Carrie was a light that shone brightly for all of those who knew her. Her smile was big and her personality infectious. She never knew a stranger because she made everyone her friend. She could be picking up hitchhikers to conversing with random strangers or friends she hasn’t seen in twenty years, she genuinely trusted and respected everyone. She was the person who you could call anytime of the day and she would be there. If you were down, Carrie got down with you before helping you back up. There is not a soul in this world who could compare to Carrie and the kindness she showed to others. She was so busy taking care of everyone else, she sometimes put herself last but when she did take care of herself, Carrie found solace in a sunrise and fed her soul with the ocean. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 5, from 1-4pm and 6-9pm at A.L. Mattatall Funeral home, 217 Portland street, Dartmouth. A funeral service will be held at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, 26 Courtney Road, Dartmouth on Friday, December 6, at 11am with a reception to follow in St. Anthony’s Hall. Carrie’s favourite colour was yellow, feel free to wear yellow in her memory. In lieu of flowers a Go-Fund me has been set up to assist the family at this time.
