Benjamin "Frank" Francis Binns

It is with great sorrow we announce the death of a dear husband, devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Benjamin Francis (Frank) Binns, on November 13th at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born Nov 1942 in Sydney, NS, he was the son of Edward and Annie “Jane” Binns.

He was a devoted family man who spent 33 years proudly policing in Dartmouth and Halifax Regional Municipality. Additionally, Frank enjoyed many years of involvement with the Knights of Columbus developing many friendships.

Frank loved nothing more than spending time with his children, Garnet and David. He was always there for them, whether he was guiding them with their families and careers or cheering them on at all their sports games. In retirement Frank always looked forward to his coffee club and day trips with friends. Most of all, enjoying his time with his sweetheart Carlotta.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 57 years Carlotta (Reid) Binns, sons; Garnet Binns and David Binns, sister Mae Beaton. Frank is predeceased by his mother Annie “Jane” (MacGillivray) Binns Coady, father Edward Binns, step father Peter Coady, brothers Edward Binns, Eugene Binns and sister Mary Lou MacPhee.

Family will be having a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Dartmouth General Hospital or a charity of choice.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Dartmouth General Hospital for their care and compassion of Frank while hospitalized.
