Age 85 of Windsor, NS, passed away on Nov. 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Audrey was born in Shubenacadie, NS to parents Marie (MacLean) Dufault and Cecil Frame.
She moved to Meaghers Grant as a young child to live with her grandparents after her parents separated. Audrey graduated from Musquodoboit Rural High School and then moved to Marathon, ON to live with her mother.
She attended Business College there and worked in medical records at a local hospital. Audrey returned to Nova Scotia to attend Normal College in Truro where she obtained her teachers license. She taught elementary school for a short time then left her position to raise her children, which included traveling everywhere for many different sports.
Later Audrey worked with her husband at his business, Harry’s Irving, Dartmouth, for many years until his retirement. After Harry's death, Audrey cared for children in her home which she thoroughly enjoyed and in 2006 she moved to Windsor, NS to be with her mother until her mother’s passing.
Audrey loved to travel and took many vacations both with her family and later with friends. She was generous, often opening her home to others, volunteering, or writing “Roses are red” poems for family and friends’ birthdays. Audrey enjoyed live music, dancing, crafts, baking, reading, a good game of cards and winning! She was fond of turtlenecks, usually with an extra sweater. Audrey knew what she liked and knew her mind, which meant you often did too. Her favorite things – other than her family -- were owls and cactuses, which could be found all over her house, her clothing or jewellery.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband Harry; parents Cecil Frame, Marie and stepfather Leo Dufault; brother Fred Frame and his son Mark; daughters in law Susan and Tracey Rourke; and special cousin Harriet Anthony.
She is survived by her sons Craig, Brian (Rhonda MacDougall) and Brent (Tina Pye); grandchildren Colton, Bannon, Davin and Libby Rourke, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins including special cousin, Lorraine McQueen.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Audrey's life will be held in Spring 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Audrey's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society - Nova Scotia, Canadian Mental Health Association - Nova Scotia Division, or St. James United Church Cemetery Fund, Meaghers Grant, NS.
