Tarrant, Alfred A. – Chester Grant, passed away March 27th, 2013, in Dartmouth General hospital. Born in Lawn, N.L., he was the son of the late Nicholas and Victoria Tarrant. He spent 25 years in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was an avid runner, badminton player, bowler and minor hockey coach. He loved life and he loved to shock and awe people. He was a loving man with quite a dry wit and he loved to get people going. He is survived by his loving wife Catherine (Hull) Tarrant; sons Todd Tarrant, Chester Grant; Frank Beals (adopted), Halifax; daughters, Annette Clarke, Arkansas; Lisa O’Keefe, Cow Bay; brothers Benjamin Tarrant, Lawn, N.L.,; Norman Tarrant, Niagara Falls, ON.,; sisters Ellen Wagner, New Jersey; Lydia Drake and Winnifred Tarrant both of St. John’s N.L.; grandchildren, Phillip Aulenback, Michael Aulenback, Christina Aulenback, Rachelle O’Keefe, Jennifer O’Keefe, Alexandrea Tarrant and Ashley Tarrant; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and several nephews. He was predeceased by adopted son, William Beals; brothers, Vincent Tarrant (St. Lawrence, N.L.) and John Tarrant (Corner Brook, N.L.) and a sister Bibianna Tobin of St. Lawrence, NL. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. in Chester Basin Legion, Branch 88 on Saturday, April 6. Interment in Lawn, N.L. in July. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Lung Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
