He was born on May 21, 1943, in Limerick, Ireland, to John and Beatrice (Mulcahy) Ryan. He lived with his family in Limerick until they came to the United States when he was 15. When Sean graduated from high school he enlisted in the army and spent the next 2 years in Germany. After returning home from his service he moved to New York and got a job with UPS, where he worked as a tractor trailer driver for the next 33 years. Upon his retirement, Sean worked for the next 25 years as a school bus driver and monitor at several different school districts. He loved his job and the children loved him. He was still employed at First Student in Bethel at the time of his passing. He was known for his incredible work ethic.
Sean will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of eating, and his Irish goodbyes. He was passionate about gardening and spent all his spare time in the yard tending to his flowers. He loved taking trips with his wife, feeding the birds with his granddaughters, his breakfast sandwich and newspaper every morning, and was the official family photographer, with his postcards popping up all around town.
In addition to his parents, Sean was predeceased by his stepdad, Matt Perone, his brother, Anthony Ryan, and his first wife, Patricia.
Sean is survived by his wife, Dolores Ryan, sister Marie Rando (husband Bob), daughter Pamela (husband Steven), son Kevin (wife Beth), stepson David (wife Melissa), stepdaughters Jennifer (husband Bob) and Melissa; grandchildren Hayley, Riley, Bethany, Falon, Jack, Sophie, Sean, Graceyn, Garrett, and Alisyn.
