Roy was born in Manhattan, NY on January 20, 1944, the eldest son of Walter and Muriel Carena, and was a graduate of James Monroe High School.
He spent most of his career with Western Electric (later, Lucent) and for many years was an elected representative as a union delegate with Local 1190 of the Communications Workers of America.
He was active with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Bronx and served for years on the church council as well as leading a scout troop. A lifelong resident of the Bronx, he and Inge also enjoyed their winters at their home in Ft. Meyers, FL.
Roy is survived by his stepson, Perry Green (Mayra); grandchildren: Casey Leigh, Christopher, Erik, Eric, Michael, and Matthew; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Alan (Valerie), Linda, and Lori, (Paul); as well as nieces and nephews including: Danny, Rachel, Gina, Samantha, Jonathan, Peter, Christopher and Nicholas.
A Memorial Service and interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx at a date and time to be announced.
