son Charles in Oxford. She was the beloved wife of 67 years of the late Henry (Hank) Cubberly.
Nora was born to the late Anna (Montabana) and Charles Speer in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn,
NY, where she was raised, enjoying school, playing piano, and many friends. She also studied

before. They married on August 25, 1951. They lived in Brooklyn, then Maryland, and in 1960,
they relocated to their final home to share the next sixty years in Danbury, CT.
Nora was the loving mother of six children. She also was the owner/operator of Rock a Bye sitter
service for ten years. Later, she worked as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing center and in
private homes.
Nora and Hank enjoyed life to the fullest and shared many interests and activities, including
being very patriotic Amway distributors, very loving and compassionate members of the
Franciscan order and St. Joseph and St. Elizabeth Seton churches, friendships and singing at
Danbury Senior Center. For fifteen winters they spent time in Honduras where they had a home
and helped guide and teach struggling families there. They also took some winter “snowbird”
getaway time at Mid-Florida Lakes community where Nora’s sister Rosalee vacationed
occasionally. They all enjoyed the music and comedy entertainment there.
Nora was also predeceased (1/26/21) by her dear sister and only sibling Rosalee Speer. Nora will
