Kathleen was born on February 1, 1952 in Queens and was the first daughter of the late Arnold (Sienkiewicz) Wallace and Catherine (Grogan) Wallace. During her early childhood, Kathleen and her parents moved to Ossining, NY and soon welcomed Kathleen’s younger sister, Maureen (Wallace) Carpenter.
After graduating from Mary Immaculate High School in 1970, Kathleen earned an AS in Business from Westchester Community College in Valhalla and went on to serve in several administrative and coordinator roles throughout her career, including at The Perkin-Elmer Corporation, Pitney Bowes Management Services and Scholastic, Inc.
In addition to her work, Kathleen served as a Board Member for the Ball Pond Water District and an American Red Cross Instructor for both Standard First Aid and CPR. She also was a member of the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps (OVAC), where she served as Chairman of the Supply and Property Committee and ensured ambulances were fully stocked and duty ready.
In more recent years, Kathleen could often be found in her garden, tending to her wildflowers, or caring for her beloved cats. She was available for a phone call whenever you needed a chat and always kept in close contact with her family and friends - all of by whom she will be dearly missed.
Kathleen is survived by her sister, Maureen Carpenter, and her husband, Jim, in Holmes, NY; and by her three nieces: Eileen Uchitelle and her husband, Abe, of Kingston, NY; Mary Ann Festo and her husband, Bernie, of Holmes, NY; and Erin Maier and her husband, Ryan, of Cortlandt Manor, NY. She is also survived by her grandniece, Briget Festo, and her two grandnephews, Aidan and Bernie Festo.
A viewing for friends and family will be held from 4-7pm on Wednesday, June 13th, at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Burial services will be held at St. Augustine Cemetery in Ossining on future date to be decided by the family.
Contributions in Kathleen’s memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or via act.alz.org.
