Joan was born in Danbury, CT, a daughter of the late John Anthony O'Hara and Irene (Leheny) O'Hara. Joan graduated from St. Peter School, Danbury High School and Crandall Secretarial School in Norwalk, Ct.
Joan was the bookkeeper for her father's business, O'Hara's Floor Covering in Danbury. When her children were older she went to work at Danbury Printing and Litho., retiring in 1998.
Joan was an unselfish loving mother, wife and friend. Joan's biggest joy in life was being with her family. Some of her favorite pastimes were using her bookkeeping skills by keeping daily ledgers, doing her word search puzzles, shopping, dining out, vacations to Maine, and reminiscing with family and friends. Despite all that Joan endured she remained strong and joyful.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas (Frank) Ginty; brother, John (Jack) O'Hara 11; and sister, Mary Ellen (O' Hara) McGovern.
Joan is survived by her three daughters: Irene Ginty; Joan Ginty; Mary (Don) Albertie; and son, Thomas (Toni) Ginty; grandsons: Trent and Nicholas Ginty. In addition to her immediate family, Joan is also survived by sister-in-law, Lois (Heckler) Weiss; as well as several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joan's children would like to express their gratitude to Comfort Hammond, their mother's home companion, for all the loving care and compassion bestowed upon their mother. Comfort became a part of the family, but most importantly, Joan felt safe in Comfort's care.
