Jerome James Driscoll “Jay” passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2020at Regional Hospice in Danbury, Connecticut. He was 81 years old. Jay was a Danbury resident and in later years split his time between Danbury and Stuart, Florida.
Jay is survived by his wife Maxine (Parcells) Driscoll, his four sons, Timothy James Driscoll of Portola, Ca., Thomas W. Driscoll and his wife Susan of New Fairfield, Ct., Robert T. Driscoll and his wife Kathy of Littleton, Co., John J. Driscoll of Denver, Co., his 8 grandchildren Augustus, Maxwell, Abigail, Thomas, Daniel, Camden, Dane and Skyler.
Jay was born to Dr. and Mrs. Jerome Driscoll on Feb. 16, 1939, in Danbury, CT. His mother was the former Mary Devitt of Bridgeport, CT. Jay was one of 3 sons. His brother Monsignor Thomas Driscoll predeceased him in 2018. His youngest brother Alfred G. Driscoll resides in Charlotte, NC.
Jay graduated from Danbury High School in 1957 and from there went into the United States Air Force for 2 years until he left to come home to take care of his younger brother. After which they both resided with Ernest Fuchs, a dear family
friend and guardian to both boys. For a number of years, Jay owned and operated Lake Ave. Florist. He then, with his son Tom, opened and operated Driscoll’s Florist until his retirement in 2000.
Jay was a member of the Phoenix Hose Co, Danbury Fish and Game, Danbury Yacht Club, and after his retirement thoroughly enjoyed his membership in the “Twister’s” Golf Group. He was active in the Recovery Community for 39 years.
Jay will be remembered for his kindness and support to his, family, and friends. Donations in his memory may be made to Regional Hospice of Danbury, American Cancer Society, and Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism.
A family celebration of his life will be held in the Spring.
