George was born in Budapest, Hungary, son of the late Bela and Gabriella (Anders) Hofer. He attended grade and trade school in Hungary and immigrated to the US in 1966. He lived in White Plains, NY and has been a Danbury resident since 1973. He was a hard working family man, who loved good food and company and to watch his grandchildren play sports. He had been a member of the St. Gregory Church Holy Name Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Elsa Pine and husband Greg of Morganville, NJ, Andrea Cicchelli and husband John of Mt. Kisco, NY and Elizabeth Hofer of Stamford, his brothers, Bela Hofer and Tomi Hofer of Germany and his grandchildren: Jacob, Alexandra, Gillian, Jack and Cooper and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Babu Nemeti.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
