Edna L. Coffey, age 99 of Danbury, died on Friday December 16 at Glen Hill Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late James S. Coffey. Edna was born January 5, 1912 in White Plains, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Daisy (Light) French. She attended high school in Croton Falls, NY, and later was a graduate of Crandall’s Secretarial School, Danbury. A Danbury resident for most of her life, Edna was employed as a cafeteria manager at the Danbury High School for over 25 years, retiring in 1976. She was a long time member of the Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church, and a member of the Mill Plain Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Edna is survived by her son Walter F. Coffey Sr. and his wife Loretta of Bethel, three grandchildren: Walter F. Coffey, Jr. of New Milford, Carl Coffey of Danbury, and Deborah Coffey of Bethel, four great grandchildren: Brittany, Sean, and James Coffey and Anthony Walker, one niece and one nephew.
Funeral services will take place on Monday December 19th at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street Danbury at 1:00pm. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11am to 1pm.
