Adelaide E. Green

Adelaide (Addie) Emily Green 80, of Danbury, beloved wife of Richard Green for 60 years, passed away on May 13th, 2013 at Masonicare in Newtown, CT. Addie was born in Danbury, daughter of the late George and Emily (Braibanti) Miller.

She was employed at Barden Corporation for 20 years and Sears for 10 years. She was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball for many years. At age 63, she played softball at the Senior Olympics in San Antonio, TX. She loved the Giants and was a big fan of the UCONN girls basketball. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, camping, biking, and walking. She had retired to Clearwater, FL with her husband and spent 8 years there during the winter months, but eventually returned home to be closer to her family. She was always on the sidelines cheering on her grandchildren, at all their sporting events and could clearly be heard. Her zest for life, endless energy, and spunk will always be remembered. She always enjoyed a good party and loved to socialize. In addition to her family, her greatest pride and joy was her dog “Charlie” who never left her side.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children: Karen Svenson and husband Gary of Oxford, CT and Richard Green and wife Pamela of Hershey, PA and Daniel Green of Shedd, OR and Cynthia Sampson and husband John of Tyngsboro, MA; eight grandchildren: Kyle, Kari and Kelsey Svenson, Nathan and Elizabeth Green, Cody Green, and Danielle and Chris Sampson; her brother Daniel Miller and wife Lorraine of Huntsville, AR and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister Elizabeth and five brothers Eugene, Earl, Warren, Robert and George.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church on Friday morning at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
