William Joseph McKinney, better known as Bill to his friends and Poppa to his family and grandchildren, was born to Myrtle and Ernest McKinney on December 15, 1923 in Mineral Wells, TX. Bill graduated from McCamey High School in 1941, and served in the Army Air Corp during World War II as a Staff Sgt. He married Jean Marie Elam on May 11, 1947, and had two children. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Jean McKinney, daughter Linda Maxwell (Larry) of Salem, MO, and Karl McKinney (Risa) of Edmond, OK. He is also survived by his grandchildren Andrea Maxwell of Oklahoma City, OK, TJ Maxwell and wife Molly of Cuba, OK, Kandace Blowey and husband Josh of Katy, TX, Krystal McKinney of Keller, TX; 4 great grandchildren Addison Blowey, Jacob Blowey, Harper Maxwell, and Harlow Maxwell. After more than 32 years in the oil industry, he retired from Rancho Oil Company as a Production Supervisor. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Myrtle and Ernest McKinney; brothers Ernest McKinney, Lloyd McKinney and Robert McKinney and sister Jean Heiskell. He was also a faithful member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church where he served as an Elder. Visitation will be Wednesday January 15, 2014 from 5-7pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with burial at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
