Tobi leaves behind her husband of 41 years, Doug Bedell of Dallas, and a son, Chad Wommack of Houston. Another son, Kelly, died in 2007.
Tobi was born Oct. 22, 1951, the youngest child of six raised by Robert S and Arlene Bone. She grew up in Northwest Dallas with her wonderfully protective older sister Judy, and four notoriously mischievous brothers: Walt, Bobby, Tom and Terry, all of whom preceded her in death.
For more than 40 years Tobi was the bookkeeper and office manager for the DeCleva family’s independent oil and gas production companies. Throughout her life she was fiercely loyal to those in her closely held business and social circles, earning a reputation for her kind heart, salty wit and clever repartee.
Tobi loved raising boxer puppies after being introduced to the breed by brother Walt. In her later years she taught herself to play piano to the amazement of her husband and anyone else who would listen. In Tobi’s world, Tom Petty could do no wrong, and Jordan Spieth, the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Stars were always heroes. A post-dinner Pisco sour at the fire pit became her goal in life after retirement, and she pursued it with vigor.
She was a member of Brookhaven Country Club, where she labored (with limited success) to improve her golfing skills. And she absolutely adored her many nieces and nephews.
We will never forget her.
Special thanks to the caring professionals from VITAS hospice, Walnut Place, Amada home health and Texas Oncology for all they did to make her last days as comfortable as possible.
Memorial gifts can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest.com for the Bedell family.
