He attended Spring Hill College and Southern Methodist University before enlisting in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He flew 26 combat missions as lead bombardier. .
In 1945 he married Betty Jo “Bones” Moore, the love of his life and they were married for 67 years.
Tom pursued what would become a life-long passion in the food service industry, where he spent 44 years with John Sexton & Co.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bones.
Survivors include his 6 daughters: Jan Shay, Moira Fulton, Beth Potaniec and husband Steve, Shannon Jones and husband David, Erin Hirschhorn and husband Karl, Kerry Poer and husband David.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Angela Shay Beck and husband John; Shannon Shay Herring and husband Rob; Brian Fulton and wife Lauren; Blake Fulton and wife Jamie; Brooks Jones; Heather, Hannah and Haley Hirschhorn; Laney Poer Booher and husband Brandon, Wesley Poer and Kyle Poer. 9 great grandchildren: John, Claire and Luke Beck, Shay and Thomas Herring, Savannah and Henry Fulton, Greeley Fulton and Bryce Booher.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, December 13th at 10:00am at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas.
