Teresa Lynn Patton, our “Mother Teresa”, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 12, 2021, from complications from pneumonia at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, with her loved ones by her side.
Teresa was born in Monroe, LA, in 1935 to parents Oliver W. Boyd and Jewel Lynn Boyd. She had two children, Donald E. Patton and Janice Lynn Patton. She is survived by her daughter Janice and grandson Harley E. Patton.
She mastered in mathematics and taught at the high school and college level in Dallas, Texas, up until her retirement at the age of 84. She took great pride and joy in teaching and bettering the lives of her students of all ages.
She cared deeply for her family, enjoyed a long membership with her church community and maintained a loving home in the Lake Highlands neighborhood in Dallas. Frequently described as a great friend, she was extremely generous, caring and loving, supportive, witty and always wanted “to be a blessing” to those she loved.
At 86 she was active, fit, witty and vital. She loved to garden, was a voracious reader, loved puzzles of all sorts and was a queen DIYer who could fix just about anything. She was an exceptional cook who loved trying new recipes with her friends and family and passed down the love of long standing family recipes. Her butterscotch pie was a slice of heaven. She loved sharing her Thanksgiving feast and always had a place for anyone who could join the table.
Christmas was her favorite holiday. She would magically transform her house with the most festive decor. Her Christmas tree, “the burning bush”, was a culmination of many years of collecting ornaments and beautiful memories. She made the holidays come alive with her festive spirit and joy. We will miss her every day and especially this holiday season.
We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this time of grieving. To honor her, we will have a memorial at her home in January for those that wish to share their love of Teresa and her impact on their life. Please reach out to Janice via email at [email protected] for details.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest.com for the Patton family.
