Susan Biggers Adams, 82 passed away peacefully on February 11, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. Susan was born in Dallas on September 30, 1933, to Dallas and Virginia Biggers. She graduated from Highland Park High School and Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Susan married Paul S. Adams Jr. on June 23, 1956. She was a member of numerous social and civic organizations including the Dallas Women’s Club, Dallas Country Club and Dallas Garden Club. A woman of great faith, Susan was a lifelong member of Highland Park United Methodist Church where she served on the church board, sang in choir and taught Sunday school. She held positions on many service committees to the betterment of her community. Family and friends were her greatest joys. Her sweet demeanor and sense of humor held the trust and hearts of many. A dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Susan was also a committed friend and neighbor who knew the goodness in everyone she met. By her example, she leaves a light for others to follow. Susan is predeceased by her parents Dallas and Virginia Biggers and her brother John Biggers. She is survived by her husband Paul S. Adams Jr.; her children Paul S. Adams III (Lynne), Margaret Adams Bryant (Mike), Mary Adams Chaffe (William), John Adams, Robert Adams (Allison), her grandchildren Paul Adams IV, Olivia Adams, Susan Bryant Pohl (Luke), Matthew Bryant, John Bryant, Michael Bryant, Mary Margaret Chaffe, Elizabeth Chaffe, William Chaffe, Molly Adams, Caroline Adams, Emily Adams, Dallas Adams and Adelaide Adams; her brother in law William Adams (Mollye), sister in law Lynn Biggers; her cousins Jane Rejebian and Shirley Martin; and nieces and nephews Rebecca, Stephen and Ted Biggers and Beth and James Adams.
Susan, who was affectionately known as “Dodie” by her grandchildren was beloved by her entire family. A beautiful and generous matriarch, Dodie gave unselfishly of herself to ensure that her husband and family were well cared for. She was always graceful and contagiously happy and optimistic. Dodie was always kind in her thoughts, words and deeds making all that entered her life feel welcome and loved. She brought much joy to the hearts of all her family and many dear friends and she will be dearly missed. A celebration of her life will be held at Highland Park United Methodist Church on Tuesday, February 16th at 11am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church Library Fund.
