Steve (Esteban) R. Rubealcaba Sr. was born December 25, 1941, to Guadalupe & Martha Rubealcaba in Lamesa, Texas. At a young age, he moved with his family to Hobbs, New Mexico. He was working at a packing company in Hobbs, when he met his wife, Tomasita. They married in 1957. He then worked several years with his uncle in the construction and concrete business. He left the construction business to work in the oil industry where he started his trucking and heavy hauling career, eventually working his way to a Foreman/Supervisor position with an oil pumping unit company.
In 1970, Steve and Tomasita with their 6 children moved to Dallas, Texas. He continued his Heavy Hauling trucking career driving for American Rigging of Dallas. He loved talking about the Super Heavy loads he moved while with American Rigging. In the mid 1970’s, he joined Wales Transportation and traveled throughout the United States and Canada. When the construction of the Alaskan Pipeline began, he hauled some of the early loads of pipe and equipment into then uninhabited/unpaved areas of Alaska.
In 1977, he left trucking so he could spend more time with his family which had expanded to 7 children. He went to work with his brother Silve in the construction and concrete business. After a couple of years, he decided to go back to what he knew and loved…trucking.
In 1988, with the support of his family, started Rubealcaba Enterprises Inc. To date, is still operating under the management of his sons & family. His trucking career spanned for over 50 years, driving many miles, earning numerous Safe Driving Awards. Over the years he has trained and mentored many others in the trucking and heavy hauling business earning him respect and admiration. Steve leaves us with his legacy in the trucking and Heavy Haul industry.
