Stephen C. Moore, age 67, of Garland, TX, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016. He was born on December 24, 1948, in Cameron, Missouri, to the late Norman and Betty (Billings) Moore.
Steve was a 1967 graduate of Cameron High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1989 as a Master Sergeant (E-7). He was proud of his Air Force service, and even more proud of his son Greg’s service.
He subsequently worked for Electrospace (now Raytheon), Wizetrade Group, and, most recently, the U.S. Census Bureau. Although Steve was a long-time resident of Dallas, he never lost his passion for his hometown Chiefs and Royals. Steve was a lifelong Democrat and he was passionate about politics. He was an avid reader of international best sellers, and particularly loved books set in New York City. He was passionate about his wife Kitty, his children, and his grandchildren. Steve enjoyed visiting his daughter in New York City where he would seek out little-known landmarks gleaned from his reading. He was an animal lover. Steve was a devotee of NPR, and if you were in Steve’s house or in his car, you’d listen along with him. His most recent hobby was cooking and baking. His specialty was pies and cobblers. When he was growing up he thought he always got shorted on his birthday because of Christmas. His brother agrees.
Steve had a wonderful, dry sense of humor, and he was a “people person” who made friends wherever he went. He was always willing to lend a hand to friends or even strangers in need. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Steve will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Kitty Polly; his son Greg Moore and his wife, Alyssa (Curry) Moore and their two sons, Kahner and Paxton; his daughter Monica (Moore) Beaudreau and her husband, James Beaudreau; his brother Kent Moore and his wife Kay (Brenneis) Moore; his uncles, Howard Moore and Wayne Elliott, his cousins Lynn Elliott, Laurie Hermance-Moore and Douglas Moore; his loving nieces and nephews, extended family and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, TX 75252. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284-1125.
