Steve is survived by his father, Johnny; his stepmother, Carol; his siblings, Mark, Mike, and Christi; his brother-in-law, Martin; his sisters-in-law, Carol and Sarah; his sons, Jacob and Jordan; his daughter-in-law, Yalina; his nieces and nephews; and his grandson, Jiraiya. He is preceded in death by his nephew, Hayden; his mother, Jo Marie; and his grandparents, Leora and John Henry West and Agnes and HD Buse.
Steve was born in Dumas, Texas on October 23rd, 1969 to Johnny and Jo Marie Buse. He graduated Valedictorian of his hometown high school in Sunray, Texas, and would go on to complete medical school at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. During his time in residency in Harlingen, Texas, he would welcome his two sons into the world: Jacob, born August 27, 1997, and Jordan, born April 1st, 1999. He lovingly referred to himself and his boys as, “The Three Amigos”, a group nickname which they proudly cherish to this day.
Steve was highly devoted to his profession. Deep within his soul was an immovable desire to help others around him, and he will be fondly remembered by many as simply, “Dr. Buse”. In his personal life he enjoyed photography, always taking pictures of his loved ones and his surroundings with a unique perspective on the world that he shared through his lens. Steve was also an avid traveler, a technology enthusiast, a cook, an especially talented singer and musician, and a comedian who considered his jokes to be, “The greatest ab workout you may ever get for free”. He was raised a Christian, and throughout his days on Earth his relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior nourished and humbled his life. He will be severely missed by his friends, family, colleagues, and patients who were blessed with the privilege to know and love him the way that he loved us all.
A funeral service is currently pending as the family works through this difficult time. Flowers, donations, and condolences may be offered at 7901 Pilgrim Dr, Amarillo, Texas, 79119.
