Sarah Molly (Myers) Reynolds of Dallas, Texas, passed away on April 18, 2024 at the age of 51. Sarah leaves an indelible impression on all who knew her as a mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher. Her compassionate heart and warm sense of humor captivated everyone who knew her.
Sarah was born on November 19, 1972, to Marvin Myers and Norma Jean Ek in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, she underwent multiple surgeries for a congenital defect in her leg, which she credits for her unending resilience and affable personality. When she was 13, she moved from Door County, Wisconsin to Houston, Texas where she attended Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. Following high school, she attended Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. She made many lifelong friends at Spring Hill but ultimately returned to Houston and graduated from the University of Houston with a BA, English.
She felt the call to serve as an educator and spent the past 25+ years in roles as a teacher and Reading Specialist at The Kessler School, Southern Methodist University and most recently at Highland Park High School. One of her proudest professional accomplishments was obtaining her CALT M.Ed, Education Reading/ Learning Therapy from SMU as a single mother while teaching full time.
At the center of Sarah’s life were her two sons, Ethan and Noah, and later, her beloved husband, Pete. She was a devoted wife and mother who treasured time with her family and their dogs.
Sarah was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Myers, stepmother, Norma Myers, and brothers, Chris Myers and Nick DeGeorge Myers. Survivors include her husband Peter Reynolds, her sons Ethan and Noah Lilly, her mother Norma Jean Ek, her sisters Becky Myers, Cynthia Myers, Judy Myers and Dana DeGeorge Myers, her brother Tony DeGeorge Myers and many other family and friends.
Sarah's passing has left an enormous hole in the lives of those who love her, but her legacy of love, service, and compassion will carry on in the many lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriner’s Hospital of Chicago or the Scottish Rite for Children, Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders of Dallas.
A memorial service honoring Sarah's life will be held at University Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday, April 25th, at 4:30 P.M.
