Eugene “Sam” Field Foster, age 61, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, Texas. Sam was born on January 19, 1961 in Sherman, Texas to Marsha and Gene Foster. Sam was raised in Plano, Texas and graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1980.
Sam received an associate’s degree in Electronic Technology from Eastfield College and worked at CompUSA. He expanded his skills working in the air conditioning business with his dad’s company, Air Maintenance. Gene taught Sam the trade and together they did hundreds of installations and repairs. Sam could fix almost anything and put his talents to use by repairing and maintaining the family’s rental properties
In his spare time, Sam enjoyed outdoor activities like hiking, camping, fishing, running and working out. He loved learning. Sam was an avid reader and researcher on topics such as technology, electronics and economics. For the past several years, he was intrigued with gaining knowledge about the nutritional content in foods and vitamins and the effect on the human body; especially industrialized seed oils.
Sam looked at life and times from a different point of view. He often pondered “theories of things to come” as technology advanced and new discoveries were made each day.
Sam will be remembered as a man who did things his way and in his time. Sam fought for several months; hoping to slow the spread of Small Cell Carcinoma of the bladder, a very rare aggressive cancer. He had a good sense of his body and what it could take. When he decided it was time to let go, he peacefully succumbed to the overwhelming progression of the disease going on in his body.
Sam is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Almarie Morris Field and Henry D. Field and paternal grandparents, Edith Lynch Foster and Elliott Rutherford Foster.
Survived by his parents, Marsha and Gene Foster of Plano, TX and Uncle, Stanton Field (Sheree) of Denton, TX
Visitation will be held Monday, June 27th at Ted Dickey West from 4:00pm – 6:30pm. A graveside service will be at Plano Mutual Cemetery at 10:00 am
