Ruth was raised in Princeton, Louisiana where she received her educational foundation, up through the Princeton School system.
Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age, and united with the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Doyline Louisiana, currently pastored by Richard Jefferson. After relocating to Dallas, Texas, Ruth united with the Mount Tabor Baptist Church pastored by the Late Reverend Floyd D. Harris; and then united with the Higher Mark Church pastored by the Reverend Billy Adkison, where she served until her passing. Ruth loved the Lord and shared her faith with everyone with whom she came in contact.
Ruth united in marriage to Leon Webb who preceded her in death. They were married for over fifty years. She had one son Billy Jenkins who also preceded her in death.
Ruth moved to Dallas, Texas where she was successful in various careers. She retired after 20 years of service with Dallas Power and Light Company. After retirement she invested in real estate. She was a private and a savvy businesswoman who enjoyed investing in and buying property.
Throughout Ruth’s life she enjoyed attending church, garage sales, and spending time with family. She loved watching golf and was found at most of the Dallas Cowboy’s games. She was a woman of faith, strength, fortitude, and an inspiration to many. Her loyalty was apparent in the sacrifices she made to ensure her children were equipped with Christian values; always providing motherly, scriptural advice, or spending time in prayer for their well-being.
Ruth was very kind to everyone and had a quiet humble spirit, always available for her children. She imparted wisdom into her family. Although she had a quiet demeanor, she had a great sense of humor and always made everyone laugh. She enjoyed cooking and serving healthy meals.
On January 13, 2022, God called Ruth to rest, and she closed her eyes to sleep, now awaiting her Savior’s return. Those who will cherish her memories are one sister Katie Maggie Webb; her loving children, Freddie Jenkins, Jerry Jenkins (Doyline, LA), Linda Faye Webb, Leon Webb Jr., Tony Webb (Linda), Patricia Marshall (Wesley), John Webb (Cherie), Artis Webb (Stacy), Ethell Parker (Billy) Troy Jones; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Ruth is now reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death: her husband, Leon Webb; parents, Cleave and Maggie Platt; a son Billy Jenkins; and a brother, Cleave Platt, Jr.
