“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4
Roy Willis Naulls was born April 19, 1935, to the parents of King Zero Naulls and Mary Louise Brantley in Hallsville, TX. Roy was the youngest of 8 siblings. His parents and siblings preceded him in death. Roy joined the Mason Springs Baptist Church in Harrison County TX at an early age. Roy’s love of God, life and a strong work ethic was greatly influenced by the love he shared and received from his family.
Roy attended the Hallsville ISD until the age of 17; at which time he told his parents after seeing his older siblings get married and leave home, that it was time for him to do the same.
On January 17, 1952, he married the love of his life, Doris Long and they moved to Dallas, TX. To this union of 70 years, 3 children were born.
Roy was employed by Certain Teed Corporation, a roofing company for 30 years, during which time he was elected the first Black union steward. After leaving Certain Teed, he was then hired by Dallas ISD, at the Nolan Estes Plaza, as facilities Supervisor. Roy’s work ethic, leadership abilities, and integrity were noticed in whatever position he held. After almost 20 years, Roy retired from DISD.
Roy and Doris united with Mt Tabor in 1960 after their move to Highland Hills. Roy served on the Mt Tabor usher board and was a faithful member in Sunday school until the Pandemic and failing health caused him to join virtually.
He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Pam.
Roy is survived by his wife, Doris; two sons, Gary (Deborah) and Larry (Michelle); grandchildren, Keyaschei, Jamaal, Kenneth, Larry, Preea, Holland, Reginald, DaRoyce, and Nigel; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Roy always said, “God has been good to me!”
