Roy C. Daugherty

Roy was born in Dallas on October 15, 1927, to Nova J. and Emma Bachman Daugherty. He graduated from Crozier Technical High School in Dallas in 1944. Roy served in the US Army in the Philippines. He was married to Janie Henzler on October 29, 1949, and they were married for 72 years.

Roy worked for Dallas Power & Light Company, starting as a lineman and retiring as a supervisor after 38 years. He loved to fish and enjoyed traveling with Janie to visit the beautiful Texas State Parks. He was actively involved at St. Augustine Catholic Church for more than 50 years as a religious education instructor, parish council member, usher, and building committee member.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Frank Daugherty.

Roy is survived by his loving wife, Janie, children Jimmy Daugherty (Diane), Emma Mitros (Chris), Mary Daugherty, John Daugherty, Tom Daugherty (Kathy), Tim Daugherty (Cyndi), Terri Lyles (Steve), and Patti Rankin (Phil), 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two nieces and one nephew.

A rosary service for Roy will be held Monday, July 25, 2022 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Saint Augustine Catholic Church, 1054 N St Augustine Rd, Dallas, Texas 75217. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Saint Augustine Catholic Church. A committal service will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, Texas 75220.
