Rose married Allen Harrison Black in August 1954 in Ocala, Florida. They eventually moved to El Paso, Texas and spent the next 60 years there. Rose worked in civil service for twenty-six years before retiring. She loved her house on Sumatra Street in El Paso.
Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She attended every athletic event, every recital, and traveled out of town to be with her grandchildren on each of their birthdays.
Rose was a competitive bridge player and was considered one of the top female bridge players in El Paso. She enjoyed the game and she enjoyed the friendships she made through bridge.
Rose Black is survived by her five children: Bob Black and Gary Tucker, Larry Black and wife, Elsie; Kathy Black Boyle and husband Mark; Nancy Black Day and husband Tim; and Jerry Black and wife, Irene.
She has seven grandchildren; Gabby Hidalgo, Cory Black, Michael Black, Danielle Simms, Serena Papillon; Megan Coker, and Lisa Newman. She has seven great-grandchildren: Jacob Hidalgo; Charlotte Simms , Juliet, Jane, and Andrew Papillon; Ruth and Caleb Coker.
Rose Marie Black is much loved and dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
