He was next to the last of 10 children.
He was preceded in death by sisters:
Virginia, Pauline, Billie, Alma
brothers:
Grayson, Paul, and Vernon
Surviving are his two sisters, Helen Gooch of Keller, Texas and Betty Rhodes of Huntsville, Alabama
As a boy he enjoyed playing baseball and visiting relatives, especially those in Frog Jump Tennessee
Early Faith Development –
His mother’s family was Methodist and he was fortunate enough to have the family bible handed down to him.
College/Military Service- He joined the Navy at 17 and received a presidential commendation along with his shipmates as part of an operation that liberated a Korean port city during the Korean War.
He was married and divorced and was blessed with two children: Debra Kay Sears and her husband Broc and Anthony Ray Permenter and his wife Cathy.
Later in life he was again blessed with four grandchildren:
Anthony Ryan Sears and his wife Candace, Nicholas Philip Sears, Nicholas Bernard Tafacory and Cheyenne Nicole Permenter and her husband Justin.
Great-grandchildren include:
Zachary Ryan Sears, Christian Matthew Kane-Sears, Katelyn Mae Sears, Natalee Marie Sears, Nicholas Wyatt Sears and Tyler Dalton Sears, Jordan Russel and Carter Russel.
His dog Lucy and later, Angelo, were always at his side.
In Tennessee he attended technical schools, earning diplomas and certification in several electronic trades eventually relocating his family to Texas in the early sixties and beginning work for LTV corporation which eventually became Vought Aircraft. He worked at Vought for nearly 30 years, receiving advanced training and mastering skills in security, firefighting, aircraft crash response and paramedic duties. He retired from Vought in 1995.
He enjoyed fishing when he could and playing golf with his brother-in-laws Tommy and Forrest. He enjoyed reading Louis L’Amour Westerns, watching John Wayne movies, working crossword puzzles and watching NCIS.
He would who stay up late at night and play canasta with all the family. Later in life playing the dice game, Farkle, with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was always a delight.
Like many he continued to be a Dallas Cowboys fan through the highs and lows. In the early days he and Tommy would drive out of town and rent a hotel room outside the blackout zone for Cowboys games that had not been sold out so they could watch the game.
He was a quiet, hard-working American and thoughtful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.
He accepted Christ as his savior and the simplicity and straightforward wording of the Lord’s prayer would be a suitable way to celebrate Robin’s life. Please join me in saying the Lord’s Prayer together.
