He was born to William and Fay Yowell at Methodist Hospital in Oak Cliff on August 8, 1929. He attended Sunset High School and graduated from North Texas State. After graduating from college, he served the students of the Dallas Independent School District as a teacher and administrator for over 30 years. He was drafted as a young man and proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jan Yowell, of Dallas, Texas; his children, Robert Yowell, Susan Martin, Randall Yowell, Russell Yowell, Sara Rivera and Ty Farquhar; his sister, Eleanor Cowan and many wonderful grand and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Highland Park United Methodist Church Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Fisher House Foundation that builds homes where military & veteran families can stay while a loved one is in the hospital.
He will be laid to rest by his family in private services at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on
May 31, 2022.
